Canadian Premiere: Israel Swings for Gold Documentary Screening & Event

On January 21st, Unity Through Sport hosted Israel Swings for Gold documentary and sports panel. The event was sold out with over 300 people in attendance, including numerous sports media figures and allies from the Hindu, Indigenous, Ukrainian and Christian communities.

Following the documentary, the event featured a tremendous sports panel which included ESPN’s Dan Shulman, Rogers Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi, and former Toronto Blue Jays radio host Mike Wilner, Team Israel 2023 participant and former Toronto Blue Jay Spencer Horwitz, Team Israel Manager Nate Fish.

More about the documentary:

In 2021, Israel’s baseball team competed in the Olympics for the first time. With no media allowed in Tokyo’s Olympic Village, the players record their own experiences. Mostly newly-minted Israelis, they log unexpected battles against Antisemitism and anti-Zionism. Victory for Israel comes on the playing field, even if not on the podium.

Virtual Roundtable on Antisemitism

This exceptional panel of Jewish sports personalities was brought together to give some comfort to the Jewish community that is experiencing a massive rise in Antisemitism, while also hoping to bring awareness to other communities and groups. The video was viewed over 20,000 times and was a prime example of how important sports is in the fight against Jew Hatred.
